Strengthen Organs, Balance Energy November 12th and November 13th, 2005 In this workshop students will learn breathing, awareness and movement practices through which they may balance their energies and strengthen their internal organs. On Saturday, students will learn the Tao Ten Exercises, an ancient chi kung set that energizes and strengthens the body while releasing internal tension. On Sunday, students will learn The Three Energy Gates Swings that help students to relax their neck and shoulders, improve their balance and align their bodies for maximum strength and efficiency. Practiced by millions of people throughout the world, it improves the circulation of blood and chi, aids the delivery of oxygen to the cells and stimulates the immune system This workshop will teach students breathing, awareness and movement practices through which they can balance their energies and feel the internal workings of their bodies. They will gain an understanding of the relationship between Chi Kung techniques and Chinese medical theory including a way to diagnose their organs using the theory of the Five Elements. April 8, 2005 7:00 - 9:30 pm Friday Night Focus: Better Breathing Breath is life. Many spiritual traditions maintain that better breathing is the key to a healthy body and a clear and calm mind. In this workshop Taoist Full Body Breathing will teach students to reduce stress and tension and prevent and heal illness. An excellent skill in itself and an essential prelude to Tai Chi, Chi Kung and Meditation this workshop will be useful for meditators, martial artists, and all those who wish to feel healthier, more balanced and relaxed. Beginners Welcome. March 18, 2005 7:00 - 9:30 pm Friday Night Focus: Taoist Energy Cultivation Energy (chi) is basic to all Tai Chi, chi kung and Taoist meditation. In this workshop Taoist breathing, awareness and movement practices will teach students techniques that will help them develop, store and increase their internal energy. Techniques include dissolving energy blocks downward, circulating chi upward and storing chi in the tantien. They will go beyond just the physical movements and focus on learning tai chi from the inside out and bring more chi into the tai chi form for increased power, health, and relaxation. October 11 and 12, 2003 Noon to 6 pm Dragon and Tiger Chi Kung: From the Outside In Dragon and Tiger is a Taoist system that originated 1500 years ago in the Shaolin Temple and is widely practiced in China today to build and maintain health. It is easy to learn and gives a strong feeling of energy in a short amount of time. The gentle movements of this exercise activate the chi field outside the body, causing the chi inside the body to circulate smoothly and freely through the acupuncture meridians and deep energy channels. Dragon and Tiger exercises every part of the body, and by increasing the blood and chi circulation in the brain, enhances intellectual capacity. As a form of movement meditation it also calms and clears the mind. In this workshop we will focus on using external movements to bring energy from beyond the skin into the body to stimulate the meridians and clear the channels. It will go on to show students how to open their Yin and Yang meridians so that the energies of heaven and earth can merge and flow within them and they will feel balanced and connected to the universe. February 2 & 3, 2002 Noon to 6 pm Tai Chi, Acupuncture and the 5 Elements In the Chinese tradition the universe is composed of 5 phases or elements of energy. In the human body these elements are related to the acupuncture meridians and to the internal organs.
