A Brief History of Qigong
(Posted 11/29/2001)

The first period of Qigong began at the time of the writing of the I Ching (The Book of Changes) in approximately 1122 BC. The I Ching discussed the relationships between the three main powers of Heaven, Earth, and Man.

Later, Lao Tzu in the classic Chinese book of philosophy the Tao Te Ching, stressed that the way to maintain health and obtain longevity was to concentrate on Chi and to achieve softness.

For the original see A Brief History of Qigong by Yang, Jwing-Ming on Acupuncture.com.
