Gong hay fat choy! Happy New Year.
The Year of the Dog begins February 16, 2018.
February 16, 2018 ushers in the Year of the Brown Earth Dog. Rejuvenating and energizing, the Earth Dog will bring new thoughts and adventures, the power to reach your goals and success through honesty and integrity. Eliminate planning, postponing and delay, pay attention to the uniqueness of the day; it's time to act !
A welcome change from the bluster of the Rooster and the antics of the Monkey, the strong and steady Year of the Dog will bring focused action and balanced power. Auspicious in many ways, 2018 is the time for humanitarian efforts and the group consciousness needed for rallies and protests. Now is the moment to fight against injustice, to right wrongs and to restore order.
The solar eclipse that begins the Year of the Earth Dog makes this year a particularly powerful one. According to Chinese astrology, Dogs are honest, active, steadfast helpers who tirelessly fight for justice. The Earth element enriches the Dog's character and adds strength, stability and balance. The solar eclipse adds depth, energy and the power of disclosure. If you were born in the Year of the Dog, 2018 begins a lucky 12-year cycle for you in which you come into your power, become more respected and can emerge as a leader.
People born in the Year of the Dog are loyal, honest, intelligent and kind. They love justice and will fight for those who are mistreated or abused. Thriving in the security of a healthy, happy home, Dogs value personal happiness and comfort more than material wealth. Children born in these years are cheerful, balanced and pleasant individuals who love sports and games. They enjoy pleasing their parents and are obedient, but they need encouragement to reach their highest potential.
The Year of the Earth Dog is a good time to focus on what's important in our lives and apply a dog's steady efforts to protect it, and because the earth element rules health and the stomach, it's the perfect time to eat better, improve your daily routine and practice the grounding routines of tai chi and chi kung..
The Year of the Earth Dog takes places every sixty years. With a dog's forthright honesty and true moral integrity to guide its burning enthusiasm, we can look forward to a truly great year ahead.
Take advantage of the moment. Step out of the shadows, accept your power and stand up for the underdog.

ABOUT THE LUNAR NEW YEAR
New Year is one of the most important holidays in China. It lasts 2 weeks; friends and relatives are visited, parades and festivities abound, houses are decorated, special foods are eaten and there are things to avoid. To bring wealth, happiness and fortune: eat dumplings, melon seeds and candy. Decorate your house with peach blossoms for luck, kumquat plants for prosperity, chrysanthemum for longevity. Open windows and doors to bring in the good luck of the new year and put up red good luck symbols. Don't sweep the house though, or you'll sweep out the luck you've carefully accumulated.
